Using Promotional Products as a Form of Goodwill

52% of people do buisness with a company after receiving a promotional product!

Are you looking to create a lasting impression in the minds of your customers, and potential future customers? It’s time to invest in some promotional products.

Previously we looked at how promotional products serve as a secondary business card. If you leave customers with an item they can use every day that has your branding on it, just think about how many times they will catch a glimpse of your logo.

So, how else can promotional products benefit your business?

Promotional Products and Goodwill

Using promotional products for gifts with purchase, customer Christmas gifts or giveaways provide that extra added value to their buying experience. Many customers will see this as an act of kindness and goodwill. In turn you can create a lasting impression, and create an overall positive image towards your brand (Disrupt Sports, n.d.). According to APPA 84% of survey participants have said that promotional products have created a more favourable impression on their brand (APPA, n.d.).

It’s time to show your appreciation to your customers and start getting those Christmas gifts ready.  EmbroidMe has thousands of promotional products to choose from. No matter what industry you’re in or what your budget is we have something for every situation.

Did you know 76.4% of people keep their promotional products because they find them useful!

There’s no such thing as too much marketing exposure. Promotional products are the perfect tool for creating repeat exposure and a lasting impression in the minds of your customers and potential future customers.

According to APPA 52% of people do business with a company after receiving a promotional product, and there really is a never ending list of ways you can use promotional products as part of your marketing mix (APPA, n.d.). Whether it’s a Christmas gift, gift with purchase or goody bag giveaway promotional products will help you stand out and create a lasting impact.

Promotional products are beneficial to businesses in so many ways, so over the next few weeks we’ll be taking a look at some of the top benefits for your business.

Using promotional products as a secondary business card

Business cards are a staple marketing tool right? But, the recipient doesn’t look at these everyday. Generally they will pull out the card only when they need to give you a call. However, with promotional products you can add some extra value to your business cards. Every time you hand out your business card leave them with a branded product too (Matista, 2013). Nearly 50% of recipients use a promotional product daily, which means the user will see your logo repeatedly, hence the product serves as a secondary business card.

Promotional products are the perfect way to show your appreciation to your customers, and it’s time to start ordering those Christmas gifts. No matter what industry you’re in or what your budget is, EmbroidMe has thousands of promotional products for you to choose from.

For a limited time only purchase any Trends Collection drinkware and receive free setup. Terms and conditions apply.

With custom promotional fitness and wellness products from EmbroidMe you can promote your brand while encouraging your employees and customers alike to embrace a healthy lifestyle.

Common Misconceptions about Promotional Products

May 12There are a lot of misconceptions about promotional marketing and promotional products that can scare of SMBs that are new to this form of marketing.

Allow us to set the record straight on these common myths:

People Just Throw Them Out

Everyone has received some kind of item branded with a company’s logo and/or an organization’s message. A lot of people try to argue that these items are thrown away and forgotten, but a study by ASI shows that these items are actually held onto for an average of about six months. Once they are no longer kept by the owner, over half are passed on to another person, continuing the branding impression.

They Don’t Make an Impression

Given that people hold onto their promotional items for six months, it’s clear there’s an impression made. And, according to Promotional Products Association International (PPAI) research, 89% of consumers can recall the name of an advertiser whose promotional product they received within the last 24 months. However the kind of impression made is dependent on the type of product and promotional marketing campaign. There are products that are better for greater visibility such as promotional bags, branded apparel and logoed writing instruments that are seen by many wherever they travel and are easily passed on. Products that foster a deeper connection with their recipient include USB drives, wellness items – prized for their utility – and delicious edible marketing.

You Can’t Tell If They’re Effective

We know marketers love to track return on investment (ROI) – how can you tell if handing out a branded water bottle is even effective?

Haven’t you noticed QR codes popping up on everything from direct mail to printed napkins at restaurants? Add a code to your printed koozies! The code can track your prospect back to the koozie you handed out at the green market on Saturday. The same goes for a unique URL. A special web address can lead to a landing page developed specifically for your koozie campaign, making tracking efforts a breeze.
Call-to-action (CTA): coupon code for a discount, a gift with purchase, BoGo, make them an offer! And then print it out along with your logo on your promotional products of choice. Customers will mention it and lead you back to the promotional item containing that offer.
Tracking number: nothing illustrates ROI like a phone call. Imprint a unique phone number on your products and you’ll know for sure they’re working for their money.
Too Expensive

Marketers want the most profitable form of marketing – that’s why they track and measure ROI. To understand what is getting them the best bang for their buck, they use a cost-per-impression metric (CPI). Promotional products are actually one of the most cost effective forms of advertising. According to the Advertising Specialty Institute, they have a CPI similar to spot ads on radio or online display, averaging $0.005 per impression. That’s a far better CPI than with prime-time TV and big-time print. The fluidity of these products means your marketing dollars can go a whole lot further.

Try to Get Them Cheap

This same study shows that people keep items they consider to be useful. Considering the length of time a promotional product is kept, wouldn’t you want it to be better quality so it will last long enough to leave a good impression instead of one of poor quality? There’s a difference between getting affordable products and “cheap” ones. Bang for your buck assumes there’s real value in your purchase, and for that, the item needs to last awhile. Do you want your company to be associated with a piece of junk, easily discarded? No. You want your brand’s imagery to appear on something that satisfies needs, innovative with a great look and feel – you want your branded item to leave your prospect thinking, “How thoughtful!”

Can’t Reach New Consumers

True, you think of promotional products as a way to cultivate customer loyalty but passing out products to prospects is known to be effective as well. In an ASI study, 31% of consumers said they would be likely to do business with a brand after receiving a logoed item – this likelihood increases according to the item itself. Apparel, USB drives and tote bags are big. Anything unique, designed with care is going to increase the likelihood you will win your way into their daily lives.

No New Products

Like any industry, promotional products are constantly evolving to keep up with the latest technology and trends. Every year thousands of new, innovative products are launched at the PPAI expo, which is one of the largest trade shows in the United States – we recently bogged about this year’s revelations here. Promotional products are a $19.83 billion industry, and it continues to grow every year.

All Promo Businesses Are the Same

There are two types of promo companies – you either have a mom and pop shop or a huge company that exists solely as an online store. What makes EmbroidMe stand out is they have combined the pluses of each dynamic. Each EmbroidMe store has at their disposal state-of-the-art technology, decades of experience in the industry and access to over 800,000 items from which to choose—while still delivering one-on-one quality customer service!

Hot Branding Tips for Winter – Jackets

Helping you keep warm

With news headlines reading “No respite from gloomy weather” or “First snow, now black ice hits south” we know that winter is well on its way, or in some places around the country it has very much already arrived! In Turangi (just south of Taupo) the other day they woke up to a chilli -5C, which was the coldest temperature in the country. Even Auckland and Christchurch only had one degree difference!

EmbroidMe: Hot branding tips for winter - Jackets

You may get condensation on the windows at home and have the windscreen frozen-over on your car, or if not, we’ve all experienced the rush of bitterly cold air when you go and open a door to outside! Driving to work can also start out cold as you wait [patiently?] for the heating to work. On days like this motivation to leave the house can quickly fade.

When it comes to winter fashion many people would tell you that the trick to keeping warm is by wearing layers, but that can cause an issue for your companies branding. Business uniforms provide excellent benefits for your business (read our previous post), but in winter the company logos and brands frequently get hidden behind non-branded jackets. Branded jackets give credibility to staff in the same way a branded shirt does, and including a branded jacket in your uniform dress-code means staff and team members will take the brand with them wherever they go.

About.com says that branding is your identity in the marketplace and that it’s important to realise that how you package your brand is an integral part of your business. Just by looking out into the world today, it’s easy to see why brands are more important than at any time in the past 100 years.

A good brand confirms credibility, and reassures customers that the plumber, builder, or any type of tradesman or delivery person that turns up to their house is actually from the company they called. But it’s not limited to that. Sports teams and coaches are easily seen, professionals are identifiable in meetings, event staff and road-workers are visible, salesmen gain credibility, and ultimately everyone is kept warm. Don’t only provide your staff or team with a uniform to promote your brand, invest in jackets to ensure that your brand isn’t hidden.

“Therefore it makes sense to understand that branding is not about getting your target market to choose you over the competition, but it is about getting your prospects to see you as the only one that provides a solution to their problem.”

Promotional Products Are a Perfect Reminder For Your Business

Looking for a sure way to increase your sales?

Promotional Products

There’s no better cost-effective way to do it than through promotional products. Research shows promotional products not only increase sales, they create goodwill, build brand awareness, and return on investment.

Custom promotional products are perfect for any business. They can be used to market almost any item, as business gifts, in customer retention programs and for customer acquisition. With EmbroidMe’s selection of over 800,000 products to choose from, almost anything can be imprinted with your company logo or name which leaves a long-lasting impression of you, your message, and your brand. Our diverse product range includes everything from shirts, promotional pens, office desk accessories, food gifts, custom USB flash drives and key chains, bags, and of course, custom apparel.

  • PROMOTIONAL PRODUCTS INCREASE SALES MORE THAN VIRTUALLY ANY OTHER MEDIA

Business leaders everywhere know how much impact promotional products can have and now there’s research to back up what so many already know: Promo products deliver a better Cost Per Impression than virtually any other media. According to a new ground breaking study of thousands of business people, 60% of the participants did business with the advertiser after receiving an ad speciality, such as a branded pen or key chain.

Of those who hadn’t done business with the advertiser yet, almost one quarter said there were more likely to do business with them in the future. On top of that, 41% say there were left with a ‘favourable’ impression of the advertiser and virtually none had negative feelings. Can you say that about any other form of advertising?

Finally, with the average Cost Per Impression of a promotional product equalling $0.005, usd the CPI for Advertising Specialties beats all other forms of media, except for billboards. Getting the most sales you can for your money is one of the best reasons to rely on promotional products to help drive your sales.

  • MORE REASONS TO GIVE PROMOTIONAL PRODUCTS

If driving sales isn’t reason enough to use Promotional Products, consider this: 83% of customers remember the business who gave them an Ad Specialty. That kind of brand recall is hard to find anywhere else.

Another reason why Ad Specialties are a key to successful marketing: The typical product is kept for 12 months and many are used by your customers every business day. That frequent exposure will ensure that your business is always top-of-mind when the customer considers who to purchase from in the future.

  • WAYS TO USE PROMOTIONAL PRODUCTS

What are some of the best ways to use promotional products?

They can increase your brand awareness whenever you give them away, whether it’s at a trade show booth or as a bonus to any purchase.

Promotional Products make excellent business gifts for giving to your best customers or to prospects who you hope will become future customers.

Used as part of a comprehensive customer retention program, promotional products can ensure that your message is always in the hands of your customer, or right within eyesight. Consider the power of branded desk accessories or calendars that customers look at every day for a lasting reminder of the services you have to offer.

Promotional Products can even be used as excellent gifts for employees. When your staff uses those items when they are away from work, it provides another opportunity to share your message.

  • PROMOTIONAL PRODUCTS BUILD ORGANIZATIONS AND PROMOTE EVENTS

Promotional products can be used for more than just driving sales. They can also be an excellent way to promote your club or activity. Our industry experts will help you find the best and most unique items for branding your organization.

Do you have a big event coming up? We can help you find the best way to promote that event and leave a lasting impression. With our wide array of products, there’s always something perfect for every occasion. The importance of branding for a small business

company brandingDo small businesses need a brand?

Yes. As a small business owner branding may be something that you might not consider relevant or important for your business. But actually branding and your company image are certainly a worthy investment.

Its really down to how you advertise and market your business, that will be the difference between your company surviving, growing and becoming truly successful.
